“Tell us what happened to our friends.” Edison pulled out his sword, aiming it at Wayne.

“What are you doing?” Luna cried out. “Don’t attack him.”

“Please put your sword down. I’m not the enemy,” Wayne pleaded. “If you put down the sword, I’ll tell you what happened.”

“Okay.” Edison placed the sword back in his inventory. “What happened to my friends? And tell us quickly, because if they’re in any kind of trouble, I want to save them now.”

“I have a confession,” Wayne announced. “Before I tell you about your friends, I must let you know that I was originally behind this attack. I was trying to ruin the competition. I had a partner, Brett, but we had a fight, and to get back at him, I decided to destroy our original plan. When he saw me run toward the town and alert you guys that there was a skeleton spawner, he was furious. I knew he was going to the Cold Taiga Biome next, and I needed help fighting him, which is why I enlisted your friends.”

“What does this person look like?” asked Amira.

“He wears a black jacket like mine,” he said as he pointed to his jacket, “and we have the same hair color.”

Amira and Edison believed he was telling the truth because they had encountered a person in a black jacket in the cave.

“You haven’t told us what happened to our friends!” demanded Edison.

“I don’t know. I was with them in the Cold Taiga Biome when I spotted a polar bear. I tried not to provoke it, but it became very aggressive. I called for help, but nobody came. I tried to fight the bear with my diamond sword, but I was weak, and it destroyed me. When I respawned in the igloo, your friends were missing. I’ve been looking for them, and I can’t find them. I’m really worried.” Wayne sounded sincere.

Edison hoped he wasn’t falling for a trick, but he had no choice but to travel to the cold biome and look for his friends. “We’re going to the cold biome with you. We need to find our friends.”

Luna worried that the skeleton attacks would continue and expressed her concern. “Before you guys leave, are you sure all of the skeleton spawners are deactivated? I don’t think we can survive another attack tonight and still have the competition continue.”

“I deactivated the one in the cave.” Edison looked at Wayne. “Are there any other spawners that we should deactivate?”

“No,” Wayne said. “There aren’t any more, or at least I don’t know of any others. Maybe Brett put one somewhere, but I doubt it.”

“We saw him trying to dig a tunnel in the cave outside of Verdant Valley,” said Amira.

“You saw him?” Wayne was shocked.

“Yes, when we were deactivating the spawner,” said Edison.

Wayne informed Luna and the others, “You should keep an eye on that cave. That was where Brett and I had originally set everything up. He will most likely return there.”

Amira looked out the window. “We have to get to the Cold Taiga Biome before nightfall.
